Science Expeditionary Force (SEF) Board of Directors - 2007

  • Kurt Zech is the Executive Director and Founder of the SEF.  Mr. Zech has a degree in electrical engineering from UIUC, a trade school degree from the IBEW and is the former Director of Operations of the non-profit Fieldbus Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization.  As an Eagle Scout and kinesthetic learner that became a hands-on electrical engineer, he has over 30 years of experience in professional training and education.  Mr. Zech excels at teaching the most complex subjects in easy to understand ways.  He has educated and trained people from all over the world (on 5 continents) from pre-K to retired grandparents.  For the last few years Mr. Zech has been concentrating on educating elementary school students on science and math.  In addition, he has also been tutoring students in algebra and science since he was in high school, too many years ago.  He is the creator of the innovative, award winning, QUEST science program.  He is a PTA Board and SITE based member of his local school.  He has been active in numerous community service organizations for many years.  Currently he is a product engineering manger at Freescale and donates his time as executive director.  He is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the SEF.
  • Sue Anderson is a Director of the SEF.  She has worked in the information & technology field for the past 23 years at varying levels.  For the past 7 years she has worked at Dell Computer Inc.   Currently she is a software development manager in Dell's Product Group.  Sue had the great fortune of being introduced to computers in grade school at the Harley School in Rochester NY.  At Harley, as part of the base curriculum, computer programming was taught as a module in all math classes from grades 7-12.  Sue graduated from Boston College with a BA in math and computer science.   She later earned an MBA in finance and computer information systems form the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester.  Sue feels she owes her success to her insatiable desire to learn through investigation and would like the help younger generations develop the same love.  Ms. Anderson has been teaching science in the QUEST program for over a year.
  • Michelle Posas is the Secretary of the SEF.  Ms. Posas was formerly part of the marketing team at Daymon doing work for corporate HEB in San Antonio.  She is currently working on her Psychology degree to benefit those children who need a better role model in their lives.  She has over 30 years of volunteer experience for various community service organizations from SADD (Students Against Drunk Driving), MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), Elf Louise, United Way, Goodwill, Salvation Army, church functions, and the PTA.  Ms. Posas has been teaching science in the QUEST program for years.
  • Terry Garity is the Treasurer and Education Director of the SEF.  Mr. Garity is a retired elementary math and science teacher with over 29 years of experience in education.  He was the founder and Director of the Lake Travis Science Camp, a summer science day camp.  He also started and directed the Extended Care Program in the Lake Travis ISD. Both programs were begun in 1985 and are still going today.  He is a recipient of the Outstanding Teacher Award at LTISD.  Mr. Garity has been volunteering in education since his retirement and has experience teaching science in the QUEST program since it started.
